Our Black bear hunts consist of either sitting on a well established bait station or hunting with a pack of our hounds. With over six record book bear harvested in the last 10 years and a 100% opportunity rate in harvesting a mature bear in the last 8 years, Randy and Eric live to bait bear. They bait over a large area and don't take many hunters to insure that their success rate will continue. They put out at least two baits per hunter to insure an active bait, they also start baiting their baits early in the year to insure bear to be in the area. Pictures of bear, taken in the summer months will be posted, on this site, as they are taken to keep you posted on the number and size of the bear working the baits. Randy and Eric also encourage you to come and watch bear durning the summer months at one of our stands. You can easily take your whole family along because it is a 5 X 5 tower that watches over one of our older baits. You will also see plenty of deer and turkeys from the stand. By watching the bear, we hope that it will help you size up the bear when it is go time. We also invite you up to run bear during training season with the dogs. You will quickly decide it hound hunting is a sport that gets you excited or if you would rather hunt over a bait. Our goal is to provide you with as many sightings as possible so you can have some practice judging their size and be ready when the time is right.
Bait Sitting
We place most of the baits so there will be a 15 yard or less shot opportunity. The baits are located on both private and county land. Some of the baits are also located off of Hunter Walking Trails to make sure ATVs will not ruin your hunt. We ask that you bring your own portable stand, steps and safety belt if at all possible.
Hunting with Hounds
Hunting with hounds is a heart pounding expirence that you are not going to forget. We only take a few hunters for hounds but do book hunts for other area guides that offer guided hound hunts that are very good at what they do. Hound Training Season
If you are looking for a place to train your bear hounds during the summer months Wisconsin is your place. Wisconsin offers a training season that starts in July and ends in September. This is a great time to get your dogs in shape and to enjoy the sound of your hounds in full cry. We will bait numerous baits for you and your fellow houndsmen to run off during this time period. You can run by yourself or we will hunt with you with our hounds. Remember this is a training period only. 100% tree and release!
